The Hot Straw was initially designed to give Parkinson’s patients a way to enjoy the hot beverages they enjoy but have a difficult time drinking. The shaking the disease causes makes a regular cup difficult to drink from, especially if the beverage is piping hot. Adding a regular straw wouldn’t work because the plasticizers melt into the beverage.
Creating a straw that wouldn’t melt in a hot beverage, yet doubled as a spill stopper for a coffee lid was the ideal solution.
Now we want to offer it to all those people who have spilled coffee on their work clothes during a frantic commute, who had their coffee spill out their lid when they hit a pothole in the road, who enjoy saving their teeth from coffee stains and sugar, or who simply prefer to drink from a straw and don’t want to be drinking plastic along with it.
Key Advantages
Hot Straw plastic doesn't melt in coffee/tea The ideal temperature for enjoying a flavorful cup of coffee is 175°F. We designed the Hot Straw to sustain temperatures of over 200°F.
Prevents spills of your To-go cup One annoyance that we sometimes faced with our To-go coffee cups was that when set down in our car’s cup holder, all it took was a good bump in the road to cause coffee to spill out the sipping hole. We designed Hot Straw to fit this hole perfectly, meaning your straw doubles as a spill stopper.
Helps prevent coffee stains on your teeth We all know that coffee and sugars can deteriorate your teeth and cause stains over the years. By using a straw, you are able to get the coffee past your teeth while you drink it. Less coffee contact with your teeth means whiter teeth!
Hot Straw is made of a recyclable plastic. Now you have the option to simply recycle it if you’re on the go, or you can always wash it out and re-use it if you grow attached to it.
Being wider than the normal straw, we designed Hot Straw to have two small holes rather than one big one. This provides better fluid control and prevents you from drinking large sips of piping hot coffee. Great for those fresh cups that you’re just a little worried might burn your mouth.
One cause for wrinkles around your mouth is the pursing some people do when they use a small straw. Our straw is designed to be the same size as the sipping hole in a to-go coffee lid, meaning it’s much larger and doesn’t require the pursing of normal straws.
